The Lake District

It’s hard to describe such a beautiful place without photos, and words probably won’t describe England’s Lake District any better than my photos can – but it seemed wrong not to comment on how much I adore this place.

We stayed in The Lake District for 3 nights, and while that doesn’t seem long (it certainly wasn’t long enough!) it was such a nice break for us after travelling and exploring non-stop for close to 2 months. It’s one of the most relaxing places I’ve ever been.

We stayed in a small village called Bowness on Windemere, where we rented a small cottage called ‘Foxglove’, which was fully equipped with a fireplace and two bathrooms with deep, comfy baths. We spent a lot of time relaxing and walking through the countryside, and I felt as if I’d stepped straight into the world of Beatrix Potter & Peter Rabbit. While we were a long way from home, as a little engraved stone showed us (photo below), the cosiness of the cottage and the beautiful surroundings made it feel very, very homey.
